The Colorado Rampage opened their stint in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League with a 5-3 win over Team North (Muscle Milk). The game, played Saturday morning at New Hope MN Ice Arena team, was the first of three games for the Rampage this weekend marking their only appearance this year in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League (UMHSEL). It also opened the Rampage’s season.
The Rampage played Tier I hockey last season in the Tier I Elite Hockey League (Midget Major U18). They finished second in the Denver Division with a 19-19-1 record behind the Colorado Thunderbirds.
The Rampage has been a successful contender playing Major Midget hockey out of Colorado Springs, CO area under the tutelage for the past 6 years of head coach Andrew Sherman. Last season, Sherman’s Rampage team had eight players taken by teams playing in the NAHL and the USHL (Junior A Tier II and Tier I teams).
The UMHSEL opened their first weekend of play at New Hope Ice Arena this past weekend.
After beating Team North, the Rampage went on to beat Great Plains (a group of players from Northwestern Minnesota and North Dakota) 4-3 Saturday night. Sunday morning, they ran into a tough Team Northwest and lost 8-3.
