Friday night the Select 15 Festival opened play at the Bramaer Arena in Edina. Six teams composed of the top 20 15-year old players met to play opening round games in their pools as part of Minnesota Hockey’s Select 15 Festival.
Over the next three days, 12 Minnesota Select 15 teams will play three games for the sole purpose of selecting the top 108 players from those 12 teams. Those selected will continue on to attend a week long camp held in St. Cloud Mn and eventually to have a chance to play on U17/U18 USA Hockey teams to represent our country in tournaments against other nations over the next two to four years.
Few players make it to the USA Hockey Team, but most that make the trip to St. Cloud further their hockey careers.
The Festival this year has divided the 12 district select 15 teams into three pools via preliminary games. One game from each pool was played Friday night.
